Legendary Japanese restaurant Sumosan, located in the Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel was opened by Alexander Wolkow 12 years ago. On Thursday, the restaurant celebrated its anniversary and unveiling of its newly designed interiors. 


Designed by a German company, the new interiors combine European comfort with traditional Japanese features. Comfortable sofas are complimented by tranquil ponds and fuchsia orchids, and the inner hall area features a painting of a Geisha by a famous Ukrainian artist named ‘Chichkan. 


Gathered on this occasion were all the family members including Liliya Wolkov, Marina, Alexander Lyubavin, and his youngest daughter, restaurateur Janina. Executive chef ‘Bubker Belkhit from Sumosan London also attended.

Draped in sumptuous fabrics, with purple lighting, candles and cherry blossom, the restaurant provided a comfortable and private environment for guests to celebrate the transformation of this iconic restaurant.
Amongst the guests of the Wolkow family were Alexandr Fayfman and businessman Miroslav Melnik and perched on the sofa’s were Daria Dostal, Tatyana Berkovich, Elena Nelidova and Ida Bondarenko. Also there was Miroslav Duma with his father and Natalia Goldenberg, sisters Gaydamak, Dmitry Yakushkin, Vadim and Stella Aminov, Mihail Druyan, Vicky Gazinskaya, Daria Spiridonov, Catherine Buchkova, Alexander Weinstein and Anna Andronov,Iosif and Nelly Kobzon, Ada Todds, Yevgeny Giner and his son. 


Later, guests enjoyed a presentation of photographs from large projectors depicting life in the restaurant since its launch 12 years ago, followed by a surprise teppan-show from the chefs, and a fantastic array of sushi, artichoke salad, baby lobster and tofu steak, rounded off with chocolate covered strawberries and raspberry cheese-cake.

Guests enjoyed delicious Japanese sake based cocktails and danced the night away.
