A weekend in London — Yachts' 38

|
Having lived in London since 1995 and taking into consideration the vast amount of restaurants good and fashionable how am I possibly supposed to put them into one weekend could I make you eat non stop probably not.
As hard as its going to be to choose just a few considering how often I am asked the same question janina We are going to London for the weekend could you recommend some restaurants I am going to try to sum it up into just one long weekend. I know turning it into a long weekend is cheating but if you can't visit them all you will just have to visit again not the worst of faith. |

Some may say it is biased but how could I possibly not include. What would I order for you...... First of all I would like to suggest you share meaning you order everything for the middle of the table that way you get to try more dishes and get a real culinary feast.
Artichoke salad with lobster and truffle my new favourite dish and one that you absolutely can not miss. I have heard from so many people that no thank you I don't like artichokes and then they love it so please make sure to try it even if you are not a fan of artichokes.

|
Sumosan in this weekend and why not start your weekend Friday night by visiting the London Sumosan. It's great especially if flying in late on Friday as the last orders are at 23.30 which is about an hour later then most London restaurants.
|
Salmon rice pizza and yellowtail tiradito with truffle. Sumosan tartar and oyster uni as well as lobster salad. Basing it on 4 people sharing that's it for the starters. You then ask the waiter to ask the sushi chef to put a selection of sushi , sashimi and rolls together
make sure they add tuna and truffle and albemarle roll. For main courses you have to have a lamb furikaki Bubker Belkhit our executive head chefs favourite dish and black cod a mushroom medley on the side and if after all of that you still have room for desert which I hope for you that you do please try the chocolate fondant and the almond marzipan cake.
Saturday most likely you wake up early Moscow time and are still full from diner hence don't want to eat breakfast I suggest you drive down to notting hill for a stroll around famous portobello Market and end up at the electric brasserie buzzing with locals having brunch.
The eggs florentine are delicious and so is the electric club.
You can have almost any fresh juice you like and a bloody marry if you dare.
Make sure to make a reservation otherwise you will not get a table this place is always packed as are all the other places I write about so make sure you book in advance preferably before you start your trip.
Assuming you did everything as told above you will want to go shopping head towards knightsbridge do some shopping on sloane street, Harvey Nichols and Harrods and before you know it it's 15.00 o'clock and all good restaurants are closed already for their lunch break.
Yes closed London works very differently from Moscow and restaurants close for 3 hours between lunch and diner almost like a siesta.
Please don't worry cause you will not go hungry you have to visit maroush on beauchamp place it's open all day just round the corner from Harrods and famous for 2 things. Melon juice and chicken sandwich called sish taouk it's an absolute must that everyone has to try at some point in their life so you may as well do it now.
Don't bother looking at the menu and don't order anything but sish taouk and melon juice. Remember you are going for diner in a couple of hours and don't want to eat to much.
If your craving something sweet I suggest you walk down to pierre herme. It's not a restaurant it's not even a cafe its a shop that sells the best maccarrons in the world.
My favourite are the sour caramel and the blueberry chocolate maccarrons.
Diner people watching celebrities and atmosphere , I am not suggesting you will eat badly all I am saying is that it's not always only about the food hence diner is going to be at Cipriani.
I doubt you will find a tastier Bellini in London.
In terms of food I suggest you try the artichoke salad and the escalope Milanese.
The risottos are also very good and one of my favourite dishes is the seppia with polenta.
Be prepared to stand by the bar and wait for your table but its a nice place to stand and wait as
all the while you are observing a buzz you rarely see around you. When you do finally get seated don't be surprised if your sitting next to someone like Valentino or matt daemon or jacky chan anything is possible at Cipriani you could be surrounded by all of them.
If you haven't heard of the le caprice you probably would have heard of its famous sister restaurant the ivy.
Le caprice is famous for there sunday brunch expect to see a lot of elegant lady's and possibly some celebrities.
Apart from serving the usual menu they have a special sunday brunch menu that will serve all sorts of eggs prepared in any way your heart desires personally I am a big fan of there salmon fish cakes they are simply delicious.
Joel Robuchon is probably one of the worlds best known chefs since he holds a total of 25 michelin stars in his consecutive restaurants throughout the world.
L'atelier de Joel Robuchon looks elegant and welcoming and a lot less uptight then you would expect from a 3 michelin starred restaurant.
The portions are served tapas style whilest sitting behind a japanese style looking sushi counter with more elegant finishes.
You must try the mini burgers with foie gras and the quail with the truffle potato mash. I can assure you both flavours will stay with you for a long time.
